Know Your EnemySilent Hill: Homecoming: Enemies Listing
Location: Alchemilla Hospital, Town Hall, Grand Hotel
Attack Method: The Nurses will make their way towards you if you have the flashlight on, swinging their scalpels as they get close, either once or twice in rapid succession. These are very quick attacks, and they can also do an overhead downwards swing.
Best Tactics: They can be easily defeated using a firearm, but for the sake of ammo conservation should be taken out with melee attacks. The knife works particularly well because of its speed. Dodging and attacking with the knife is the best tactic to defeat the nurses.
Location: Alchemilla Hospital, Grand Hotel, Hell Descent, Otherworld Shepherd House, Otherworld Church.
Attack Method: True to their name, swarms almost always attack in groups. They will attach themselves to the player and slowly cause damage.
Best Tactics: If you enter combat stance with a melee weapon and press attack when they are near you, Alex will stomp them to pieces. You can also hit them with a melee weapon should they be floating directly in front of Alex. If a swarm has attached itself to you, mash the Dodge button and Alex will remove and destroy the swarm.
Location: Rose Heights Cemetery, Streets of Shepherd’s Glen, Streets of Silent Hill.
Attack Method: Like other dog monsters in the series, the feral attack by biting at you and lunging at you.
Best Tactics: The knife is useful because of its speed. A charged steel pipe attack can also be effective in knocking down a feral. Once it’s down, finish it off.
Location: Shepherd House, Streets of Shepherd’s Glen, Sewers, Otherworld Shepherd House, Streets of Silent Hill, Boiler Room.
Attack Method: The lurkers will slash at you with their claws if they are within reach of you, and will also lunge off the ground at you with their claws outstretched.
Best Tactics: The steel pipe is the most effective weapon against the lurkers in the early parts of the game. Dodge and melee, and try to time it so they are stunned and can be executed. Once you acquire the fire axe or Pulaski axe, a charged attack with either weapon will easily decapitate the lurker, which will die shortly thereafter.
Location: Streets of Shepherd’s Glen, Rose Heights Cemetary, Streets of Silent Hill, Grand Hotel, Town Hall, Hell Descent, Streets of Shepherd’s Glen, Dargento Cemetary, Otherworld Streets of Silent Hill.
Attack Method: Similar to the Lying Figures from Silent Hill 2, Smog uses a spray attack, blinding and causing damage to you if you enter the cloud. It can also open up its ribcage and run at you, trying to pierce you on the sharp bones.
Best Tactics: The Smog can only be effectively damaged when it has opened its chest to reveal its glowing lungs. Shooting the lungs when exposed will cause massive damage, and a few direct hits will kill the Smog. You can also cause major damage by attacking the lungs with a melee weapon when the chest is open, but this is a very risky move. Firearms are highly recommended.
Location: Grand Hotel, Sewers, Overlook Penitentiary.
Attack Method: Needlers are aggressive, and will slash and stab at you with their bladed arms from all directions, and can even knock you down. They can also climb up onto the ceiling to lunge at you from there.
Best Tactics: Their head is their weak point. Unfortunately they shield their head from attack most of the time. It is possible to shoot them in the head with the handgun, but the timing on this is very difficult. The best tactic would be to equip the steel pipe or axe, and then dodge their attack and counterattack until you can daze them and execute them.
Location: Police Station, Streets of Shepherd’s Glen, Otherworld Shepherd House, Streets of Silent Hill, Otherworld Church.
Attack Method: Schisms can attack by swinging their bladed head at you, swinging its arms at you, and can also lunge at you to stab or grab you.
Best Tactics: You will rarely be in a position where you will HAVE to fight the schisms. They are very fast and very strong, so the best tactic is to run and avoid them if possible. If you absolutely must attack them, use the shotgun to knock it down, then switch to a melee weapon and tap Attack while it’s on the ground to perform an execution. You can also dodge and counterattack with melee weapons, such as the axe.
Location: Police Station, Sewers, Streets of Silent Hill, Overlook Penitentiary.
Attack Method: The Siam uses its front arms to attack you, either by punching or smashing. It is surprisingly fast for a creature of its size.
Best Tactics: The shotgun is the weapon of choice for the Siam. It will be felled by three shots maximum from the shotgun. Its weak spot is the female legs on its back, so if you can shoot those, you can cause even greater damage. If you must fight it with melee weapons, use the knife or ceremonial dagger, and try and dodge your way behind it to slash at the female legs.
Location: Toluca Lake Water and Power Building, Overlook Penitentiary, Lair.
Attack Method: Order Members can be equipped with one of two weapons: a pipe or an assault rifle. Those with pipes will run at you and try to smack you around with it, and those with rifles will try and shoot you with them. Rifle-holders can also perform a powerful melee attack with them. They also possess the ability to dodge melee attacks just like Alex.
Best Tactics: Using a firearm and trying to get a headshot is the most effective way of finishing off an Order Member quick and easy. This tactic is especially recommended for those holding rifles. The ceremonial dagger is the most effective melee weapon to use against them due to its speed.
