A Soldier's Gotta Have a GunSilent Hill: Homecoming: Weapons
Location: Alchemilla Hospital, embedded in the mirror in the women’s washroom.
Pros: High speed. Easy to counterattack and stun with.
Cons: Low attack power, not recommended against Ferals or Needlers.
Location: Garage of the Shepherd House in Shepherd’s Glen.
Pros: Moderate speed, decent attack power. Useful against Needlers.
Cons: Can be somewhat unwieldy to use.
Mk. 23 Handgun
Location: Curtis will automatically give this to you in the Junkyard when you first meet him.
Pros: Good attack power. Extremely effective against Smog.
Cons: Limited ammo. Some enemies are too fast for this simple firearm.
Location: On your first “visit” to Silent Hill, it is in the back of the fire truck at the end of the street.
Pros: Very good attack power. Useful against Lurkers for instant kills.
Cons: Slower attack speed.
12 Gauge Shotgun
Location: Automatically acquired at the Police Station
Pros: Very high attack power. Extremely effective against Schisms, Siam, and various bosses.
Cons: Limited ammo. Monsters have to be close for effective damage.
Location: Hell Descent, when you reach the fork of two paths, take the right path. At the end of this route, squeeze between two pipes and the crowbar will be found sitting on a table.
Pros: Decent power and attack speed. Useful against Needlers in particular.
Cons: Shorter attack range than other melee weapons such as the Pipe and Axe
Location: Town Hall, in the basement. Examine the cross.
Pros: Higher attack power than the regular knife, plus all the speed and other benefits of the knife.
Cons: Short range, not recommended for Schisms and Ferals.
Chrome Hammer Pistol
Location: Family Crypts North at Rose Heights Cemetery, in the boarded-up crypt. Use the axe to hack through them.
Pros: Higher attack power than the Mk. 23 Handgun.
Cons: Limited ammo
Blue Steel Shotgun
Location: Otherworld Shepherd House, basement room. Sitting on a shelf behind the door opened with the Ceremonial Dagger.
Pros: Higher attack power than combat shotgun.
Cons: Limited ammo.
Location: Streets of Silent Hill, in the back of a truck just past the busted gate leading into the Overlook Penitentiary.
Pros: Higher attack power than the regular axe.
Cons: Same cons as normal axe.
M14 Assault Rifle
Location: Moon Garden at Dargento Cemetery. Must solve the statue puzzle (see Puzzles section). Once it’s solved, check out the mausoleum nearby and examine the crack in the wall near the pool of blood.
Pros: Rapid fire, high attack power.
Cons: Very limited ammo. Can run through ammo very quickly as well.
Police Marksman Rifle
Location: Room 113 at the Lair, on a desk to the left.
Pros: Scope allows for precision aiming. Extremely useful against the Final Boss.
Cons: Limited ammo. Would recommend not using this weapon against anything except the Final Boss.
Location: Alex/Josh’s room at the Shepherd House. Only unlocked if the UFO ending is acquired, it is in a trunk next to the bunk beds.
Pros: Infinite ammo. High attack power.
Cons: Same cons as any of the other regular handguns. Can be ineffective to take aim and fire at the speedier monsters.
Location: Garage at Shepherd’s House. Unlocked only after completing the game once (any ending) and saving the end data before beginning a new game. It will be on a shelf along the left side of the garage once you enter.
Pros: High attack power.
Cons: Have to be close to the monsters. Has a tendency to miss creatures such as the Needlers and Feral.
