Handgun

Handgun

Location: Cybil gives it to you in the Café.
Pros: It’s quick, easy to use and there’s loads of ammunition to be found. You can also move when firing.
Cons: There’s a limited range and this weapon can have little effect on bosses or the tougher enemies.
Recommended: Mumblers, Air Screamers.

Knife

Knife

Location: Counter in Café.
Pros: It’s fast and you can use it to conserve your ammo.
Cons: Need to get close to enemies to use it, and even then it only inflicts minor damage.
Recommended: Groaners and not much else.

Steel Pipe

Steel Pipe

Location: Finney Street, at the end of the alley.
Pros: It’s fast, reasonably powerful and, again, you can use it when you need to conserve your firearm ammunition.
Cons: Need to get reasonably close to enemies to inflict damage, and it can be cumbersome to use.
Recommended: Larva Stalkers, Air Screamers.

Shotgun

Shotgun

Location: School, First Floor Boys Bathroom.
Pros: There’s plenty of ammo around for this weapon. Even though it’s more powerful than the handgun, you can still move when firing – use it point-blank and it can be devastating.
Cons: It takes longer to load and you’re restricted to 6 bullet magazines. It’s wise to avoid quick-moving bosses.
Recommended: Mumblers – particularly when you’re surrounded by them.

Small Axe

Small Axe

Location: Hidden altar inside ‘Green Lion’.
Pros: It inflicts more damage – and is easier and lighter to use – than the Pipe. The Axe is also useful for smashing rusted locks.
Cons: You need to get close to enemies to inflict damage. Avoid using this weapon if surrounded by many enemies.
Recommended: Mumblers and Larva Stalkers.

Hunting Rifle

Hunting Rifle

Location: Shopping Mall, Larva Boss.
Pros: Most powerful firearm weapon in the game.
Cons: You can’t move when firing, and it’s slow to reload. Rifle Ammo is scarce, so you should try to conserve it.
Recommended: Bosses and tougher enemies like the Rompers.

Emergency Hammer

Emergency Hammer

Rock Drill

Hyper Blaster tm

(only available on your third time through the game after gaining UFO ending)

Pros: No ammo is required and it has a long range, automatic aim, which means you rarely miss your target. The auto-aim will also sight enemies in the dark – and even through walls.
Cons: The more you use it, the lower your score at the end of the game – and it’s not quite powerful enough for bosses.
Recommended: Everything!

Katana

Katana
